Steam Machine reservation emails hit eBay
Completed listings show Valve’s randomized reservation system did not stop buyers from reselling queue spots.
Valve’s new Steam Machine has already reached eBay, but not as finished hardware. Some successful reservation holders are reselling their Steam Machine queue spots shortly after Valve sent confirmation emails.
Valve opened Steam Machine reservations due to limited launch supply. The company used a randomized queue instead of a regular preorder system, with selected users given 72 hours to complete the purchase before the reservation is passed to another buyer.

Completed eBay listings already show 2TB Steam Machine reservations selling for $2,899 and $2,700. Valve’s official price for the 2TB Steam Machine with Steam Controller is $1,428 in the United States, while the standalone 2TB model is priced at $1,349.
Lower-capacity models are also appearing above Valve’s listed price. Some reservations for the 512GB model without a controller were listed for $1,950, while another 512GB model with a controller appeared for $2,800. Valve prices the 512GB model at $1,049, or $1,128 with the Steam Controller.
Valve tried to limit reseller activity by requiring a Steam account in good standing, at least one Steam purchase before April 27, 2026, and a one-system limit per household.
